1 - Assessment

It is difficult to even comprehend the conditions under which our innocent orphan children live. It is our saddening and necessary duty to make an assessment of those conditions.

The key to success in all of Lifeline of Hope’s programs is assessment. Lifeline of Hope recognizes that each facility will have its own strengths and weaknesses and that there can be no standard “care package” without there still being need and waste. In recognition of this, Lifeline of Hope works to provide aid through programs that address and consider those unique strengths and weaknesses. In practice, a Lifeline of Hope Program Facilitator makes the individual assessments during a personal visit to the facility as well as consultation with the Directors and others involved in the direction of the facility.

3- Ongoing Needs

Our children need to know and trust that their ongoing needs will be met.

Also discovered during the assessment are weaknesses that lead to ongoing needs. Often these may be the same as some of the critical needs and they are usually consumable items that are consistently in short supply. Lifeline of Hope Facilitators will make regular deliveries of these ongoing needs to prevent a future crisis or emergency at the facility. This helps them to feel Secure and gives them Freedom from Fear…trust and faith.

5- Education and Enterprise

Our children need to have dreams and the hope for fulfillment. They need to know that they are loved and valuable to themselves and others.

Another area that is profiled during the Assessment is Education. Lifeline of Hope works to provide materials or services that aid in this area, whether it is by purchasing educational materials or financial assistance to hire additional educators or in some cases, the sole educator. Again every facility is different and the needs vary from one orphanage to another.

The Enterprise program focuses on the natural resources that the facility has, whether it be a garden, a woodshop, sewing, baking, etc. We work to supply the facility with updated and new equipment, structural additions and supplies that enhance and embellish what is already a natural resource and part of their culture.

This helps the facility to become more self sufficient while teaching the children necessary life skills that will help them become active members of their own society, workforce and culture. This gives our children Self Esteem and the ability to pursue their dreams with newfound talents…truly becoming who they are.

Lifeline Programs Provide for Basic Human Needs

Program Overview

Lifeline of Hope has designed all of it’s programs to coincide with and provide for what is widely accepted as basic human needs. When basic physical needs are not being met, the body and mind cannot function properly. Many aspects of growth such as the ability to learn, trust, bond and love are hindered when these needs are not met. The ability to be spiritual and have faith or even understand it is diminished when hunger, fear and insecurity are prevalent in our environment. The end results are varying degrees of illness; physical, mental and spiritual and of course can even lead to death.

There is a chronological order…foundations that must be built in order for us to become a complete person. Whether we know it or not, we will seek out a way to fulfill those needs. Without healthy direction, the route that we take to fulfill those needs may likely be a destructive one…for us and for those we interact with.

However wrong or destructive those ways may be, if they are successful, they will become a way of life for the child, even as they grow to adulthood. It is very likely that the adult child will continue to pursue those needs in the way that has provided success in the past. This pursuit might very well be a life of crime. Gangs, Mafia, Prostitution, perhaps even Terrorism may be the source of these provisions. Once a person becomes an adult and has successfully achieved basic needs through destructive ways, it is very difficult to convince or influence them to do otherwise. It is all they know and is actually what they have become.

The goal of the programs of the Lifeline of Hope is to provide the millions of orphans in the world with these basic needs as a positive and healthy source of these needs.

In doing so, not only are we accomplishing the obvious goal in providing deserving children with the love and care that we want to give them, but we are investing in the future of this world and the global society by positively impacting these children that will grow to adults and become what their environment (societal and natural) has made them. That adult will be one who has achieved their basic needs in a positive healthy way and can therefore be an adult that can become a healthy member of our global society.

The programs are designed to chronologically meet the Physiological, Safety, Belonging/Love, Self-Esteem and Self Actualization needs. Education and Spirituality can then be introduced. The child will become more open to, and able to pursue such, as their physiological needs are met and they begin to feel safe and begin to trust. Next they will understand hope and when hope materializes as reality…faith. The programs are designed to continue building the remaining foundations necessary for the child to become a healthy adult as they enter society through adoption or social integration when they leave the facility.

2- Critical Needs

Our orphan children are suffering from the lack of critical needs in the orphanages.

Based on the assessment, a list of critical needs is compiled. The Program Facilitator works with the Director to find and purchase the critical needs and/or services. Critical needs such as food, medicine, hygiene, vaccination and inoculation, clothing, facility repairs, equipment as well as emergency medical for individual children are among the needs addressed at this step. This step brings our deserving children the Food Water, Shelter and Warmth they so desperately need to survive.

4- Mentoring and Nurturing

Our children need someone to wipe away their tears and share in their laughter.  Every good parent already knows this, but more and more research is showing the critical need for healthy human touch and interaction and play during childhood. The lack of these social interactions leads to attachment issues and can eventually lead to some level of attachment disorder. The greater the level of attachment disorder, the more difficulty the child will have integrating into society or bonding with other human beings.

Lifeline of Hope works to instill a sense of self worth and value in the children. We work to make them feel loved and cared for through positive interaction in the facilities as well as other social environments.

Lifeline of Hope is developing this program to involve paid employees as well as volunteers to spend time with the children to ensure that they will have regular, visits and activities that include one on one as well as group interaction that makes them feel special and cared for while minimizing their status as an orphan. We want them to feel the same warmth, joy, love and belonging as any child.

6- Adoption / Integration Into Society

Adoption Promotion: The Ultimate that can happen to an orphan is that they can become a member of a loving family within their own community, protecting their culture and adding value to their own country.

However, there are only a tiny fraction of these children will be adopted by someone in their own country. Because of this lifeline of Hope promotes adoption during presentations, in literature and via the internet.

Adoption : Lifeline of Hope International Adoptions as a licensed placement agency, is able to to provide assistance toward dossier preparations and be a part of prospective parents journey to meet their child. As a licensed placement agency, we are able to assist with home studies as well for families in Montana. Lifeline of Hope International Adoptions is able to assist prospective adoptive parents with financial consultation, Initial Application, Home Study Coordination, INS Submittal, Adoption Education and Resources, Dossier Consultation and Review as well as Post Placement Support and Referral. Our trained staff is ready to assist you! For more information call 1-406-257-0868 or follow this link.

Adoption Subsidies: There are many qualified, loving couples and individuals that want to adopt, but perhaps are unable due to a lack of money for the adoption process. To answer this need, Lifeline can provide subsidies to eligible people who are approved for adoption. Upon completion of the home study and approval by authorities related to the process, couples or individuals then become eligible and are welcome to apply for a subsidy from Lifeline of Hope. Adoption Subsidy Donations go toward expenses to finalize an adoption. All subsidies are on a sliding financial scale based on income and need.

Integration Into Society: Many of these children…most of these children, will not be adopted domestically or from out of country. Most will have to integrate into their own society at the age of sixteen. As you can imagine, for an orphan, this is a very traumatic experience if they do not have the right kind of support. Without the right support and opportunities, many will turn to crime and prostitution as a means of survival…if they survive at all. Because of this Lifeline of Hope supports vocational facilities that house and /or educate the “newly graduated” orphans. Lifeline of Hope provides educational scholarships as well and assists the post institution orphans in other ways as well.
